Mahjong Lessons in Henderson, Nevada
By Jessica Gitlin — Las Vegas's favorite Mahjong teacher
Henderson has two kinds of mahjong table: the one in somebody's dining room, and the one in a clubhouse that wants the same class every other week.
The short answer
Mahjong lessons in Henderson, Nevada are private American Mahjong sessions taught at your own address by Jessica Gitlin, who brings a complete 152-tile set, racks, dice and mats. One table covers up to 6 guests for $200 over 2.5 hours; two tables cover up to 10 for $400 over 3 hours. Clubhouses and 55+ communities including Anthem and Sun City Anthem more often book a recurring class, which is quoted directly. Call or text 917-533-8690.
Two kinds of Henderson table
The first is one evening at somebody's house, which is how most of the Valley books. The second comes from clubhouses and 55+ communities, where the question is usually not "can you teach us on Saturday" but "can you come back every other week."
Lessons are taught anywhere in Henderson, including Anthem, Sun City Anthem, Green Valley, Seven Hills, Inspirada and MacDonald Highlands.
One lesson, or a class that repeats
| Single lesson | Recurring class | |
|---|---|---|
| Who books it | Friends, families, birthdays | HOA activity directors, 55+ communities, clubhouses |
| Group size | 4-10 | Set by the room, usually multiple tables |
| What it produces | A night, and often a standing game | Players who keep playing without an instructor |
| Pricing | $200 one table, $400 two | Quoted directly for the series |
The difference matters more than it looks. A single lesson teaches a group to play. A series is what makes a community game still exist six months later.
What a Henderson clubhouse should book
- Reserve three hours, not two. Setup and breakdown are real, and a room booked to the minute cuts play short.
- Count tables, not people. American Mahjong seats four. Twelve interested residents means three tables and the floor space for three tables.
- Decide who owns the equipment. Sets come to the lesson, but a community that wants to keep playing between sessions eventually buys its own.
- Expect a mixed room. Some residents played decades ago. A beginner table alongside a returning-player table keeps everyone in a real game.
Which page to read next
If this is a private table at your own house, the in-home lesson page covers the format. For an HOA or 55+ community, read senior community and clubhouse classes, which is written for activity directors. Larger single sessions are described under group mahjong lessons, and the west side of the Valley has its own page on mahjong lessons in Summerlin.
Send a date and a headcount through the contact page and the format follows from those two numbers.
- Lessons are taught at your Henderson address: a house, an HOA clubhouse, or a 55+ community activity room.
- Anthem, Sun City Anthem, Green Valley, Seven Hills, Inspirada and MacDonald Highlands are all regular stops.
- Four players minimum. One table covers up to 6 guests, two tables up to 10.
- A 152-tile set, racks with pushers, dice and mats are brought in. Card tables and chairs too, if needed.
- Clubhouses and 55+ communities usually want a recurring class rather than one lesson. That is arranged directly.
- $200 for one table, $400 for two. Call or text 917-533-8690.

How much does a mahjong lesson in Henderson cost?

Can you teach a class at our Henderson clubhouse or 55+ community?
Yes. Recurring classes are arranged directly with the activity director or HOA, and are sized to the room rather than to a fixed guest count.
Do residents need to have played mahjong before?
No. Mixed rooms are normal, with some residents who played years ago and some who never have. A beginner table alongside a returning-player table keeps everyone in a real game.
What equipment do we need to provide?
None for the lesson itself. Sets, racks with pushers, dice and mats are brought in. Communities that keep playing between sessions usually buy their own set eventually.
